"The Thought Provoker"
Slavery Visualized
Lomax Elementary School students enjoyed a captivating presentation by Mr. Lee Tillman on Feb. 28. Inhonor of Black History Month, Mr. Tillman helped the students visualize slavery as it existed years ago. Beginning with the initial stages of slavery, Mr. Tillman created a clear picture of the progress made by Black Americans as they became educated. Embracing dreams of the future inspired the slaves to move forward in a positive way that eventually led to their freedom. Mr. Tillman stressed to the students that unlimited opportunities await them, also, and encouraged students to follow the model of the courageous slaves by clearly defining their dreams and vigilanty pursuing them. Students and faculty alike were inspired by Mr. Tillman's thought-provoking presentation.
