It Starts with Self-Confidence...
We always talk about things that we want to do but don't think about the effort that it takes to get it done. Today my good friend and coworker Lee Tillmon (the one holding all of our boards) taught us a good lesson, break through the things that hold you back and march forward! He brought each of us a wooden board to break with our bare hands. As a team we all participated. We began by writing down the things that we wanted to "break through" on our board, wether it be stres, anxiety, sickness, insecurities or unhappiness it had to be something that you personally wanted to over come and march forward from. After we decided what our board would read we got a quick 3 step lesson on what not to do... I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about doing this because I didn't think I would be able to do it! So that leads me to share, my word was CONFIDENCE. I needed to have a confidence break through and be more confident in myself, my actions and my work. So ready set GO! There it went! I broke my board and my co workers did as well. It was amazing. I felt accomplished and by the looks on Erika Ortega and Greyland Lightfoot faces they did too! Thank Lee, we appreciate you! ♥️

Slavery Visualized
Lomax Elementary School students enjoyed a captivating presentation by Mr. Lee Tillman on Feb. 28. Inhonor of Black History Month, Mr. Tillman helped the students visualize slavery as it existed years ago. Beginning with the initial stages of slavery, Mr. Tillman created a clear picture of the progress made by Black Americans as they became educated. Embracing dreams of the future inspired the slaves to move forward in a positive way that eventually led to their freedom. Mr. Tillman stressed to the students that unlimited opportunities await them, also, and encouraged students to follow the model of the courageous slaves by clearly defining their dreams and vigilanty pursuing them. Students and faculty alike were inspired by Mr. Tillman's thought-provoking presentation.
